The Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 USM IS is one of the older IS lenses available today. It replaced the old EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 USM IS which was the first Canon IS lens to hit the market back in 1995. It is an immensely popular lens especially among APS-C...

Note: A hands on review of this lens can be found HERE Canon have updated the 75-300/4-5.6IS USM, which was the first image stabilized lens available to consumers, way back in September 1995. I guess after 10 years it was ready for an update! The new le...

Review of Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens The following lens tests were run after acquiring a new Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens to potentially use as a light-weight telephoto zoom lens for travel with Canon APS-C cameras. I had low expect...
In a Nutshell I love this lens. When I first picked it up I thought it was a toy - but when I saw the great heavyweight image quality, the toy-like lightness became a huge benefit. It feels flimsy and light, and the zoom on the worn one I borrowed flo...
With the introduction of the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens, Canon has replaced one of its most popular lenses and its first image stabilized lens - the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 IS. The 75-300mm IS lens was popular because of its useful focal...
The Canon EF 70-300/4-5.6 IS USM is the replacement for the EF75-300/4-5.6 IS USM, but the difference is much more than just 5mm at the short end of the range. According to Canon, the new lens uses a low dispersion optical element for better image...
Test NotesEvery now and then, you really do get more than you pay for, and the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM is proof positive of this. When we ran this lens through its paces in our lab, we were flat-out astonished by the optical quality it delivered...
